Founder and CEO
Hi! I’m Kelly.
I have worked in service and manufacturing businesses since I was 16. A fast pace, no two days the same, solving problems and exceeding customer expectations with exceptional quality and service—that’s my passion.
From delivering jobs to overseeing a business, I have been involved with electronic copying and digital printing for over 35 years. Every day I have the privilege of working with smart, motivated, and happy people. We all enjoy hard work, a good laugh, and meeting the needs of our customers—Right On Time.
I love to cook and entertain. I support the local agriculture community with weekly trips to the farmers’ markets and volunteer my time to the sustainable agriculture movement. I enjoy traveling back to my home state of Nebraska to soak up the beautiful landscape, visit friends, and relish the sea of red at a Cornhusker football game. I’m also an enthusiastic cyclist. In 2013 I rode my bike across Iowa completing all 420 miles of RAGBRAI (Register’s Annual Great Bicycle Ride Across Iowa) XLI.
W. Richard Smith, PhD
Founder and President
I opened my first print shop in 1978. I’ve participated in every step of the technical revolution that led to the modern, all-digital plant we run today. Kelly Clark has been my business partner throughout my printing career.
When not working to help our customers, I enjoy bicycling, photography, sailing, reading and traveling.
Prior to printing, I worked in Latin America as a cultural anthropologist. I’m currently engaged in a research project in the Philippines.
I have 15 years of print industry experience ranging from project coordination to plant management. I wear numerous hats at Laser Image and pride myself on doing any task necessary to deliver a print project right and on-time.
My print career started in customer service, where my focus was to help solve our customers’ problems. This customer-based focus is one that has stayed with me throughout my career in production and operations management. I have developed our production team and have instilled this same sense of customer focus throughout our organization. A major focus in recent years has been on Lean Manufacturing techniques and adopting relevant Lean procedures throughout the production process.
I am a 1999 graduate from the State University of New York at Oswego, where I majored in Business Administration. More so, I met my extremely supportive and goal-oriented wife of 12 years while a student at Oswego. We have 2 children together and stay very busy on nights and weekends with their sports activities.
I coach both my son and daughter’s travel soccer teams who play for the Mebane Youth Soccer Association. I also sit as a current board member for MYSA and am the newly elected Rec Director for the league. My family are all avid runners and are active member of our local Mebane Running Club, where my wife is currently the president of the club.
Business Development Manager
Hello, I’m Mike Mitchell.
I have 22 years experience in the printing industry ranging from production management to sales. I graduated from Appalachian State University with a degree in Printing Production Management. I enjoy the sales side of the business because it’s fast-paced, my customers are great, interesting people, and every job is something new.
I live in Garner with my wife Sherry and two children, Kate and Jackson. When I’m not talking printing with my customers, I’m usually spending time with my family, coaching youth baseball, playing softball or fishing at a pond for some quiet time.
Call me to help plan your next project.
Hi, I am Candy. I have 18 years of consultative selling experience including 10 years in the ever-changing printing world. I love helping people and companies find new and creative ways to express themselves in print!
When I am not working I love to spend time with friends and family—especially cooking for them and creating new memories. I love my dog, Winnie, who likes to go on long walks, which keeps me in shape!
As a Raleigh native, I enjoy exploring our community and state’s wonderful resources. Some weekends I become a tourist in my own city—exploring museums, or going on adventures to the coast, the mountains or just hanging out in the good ole Triangle. Some of life’s greatest treasures are right in our own back yard. After all, there’s no place like home!
I look forward to helping you put your ideas on paper (or vinyl, cardstock, plastic, labels, or … ) !

Hey Y’all, I’m Kayleigh. I’ve lived in North Carolina my whole life and I can’t get enough of this great state! From the Atlantic Ocean to the beautiful Blue Ridge Mountains, I absolutely love it here!
I first became passionate about printing in high school were I took a graphic arts class, and since the first day I’ve been hooked. From there I learned the entire printing process, from start to finish, and the value of communication. It fascinates me to see, and be apart of, this process of transforming an idea into a visual product.
I attended Appalachian State University (Go Mountaineers!) where found my calling: Prepress. I enjoy solving problems and being able to show my creative side. Along with Prepress, I have two years of experience in wide format printing and screen-printing.
Please call me or e-mail me if you have any questions when setting up your print projects.

Salut, I’m Jess!
No, I’m not French, but that doesn’t stop me from (moderately) speaking it! Actually, I was born and raised right here in North Carolina! I was blessed with wonderful parents who nurtured my creativity and supported my dream of going to art school. I graduated from the Art Institute of Raleigh-Durham in December of 2013 with a Bachelors in Graphic Design and landed my first paid internship here at Laser Image. A year, and some seriously long study sessions, I’m still going strong as a full time member of the Laser Image family working in the Prepress, Design and Mailing Departments.
When I’m not sitting in front of a computer screen debating if I should use Futura or Univers, I spend my time illustrating, reading novels, poetry and comics, sewing and watching my favorite films. I’m also working on learning French and hope to accomplish my dreams and then retire in Nice, France … or maybe I’ll meet Mr. Darcy at a party and be swept off my feet. Which ever happens first.

Hi, I’m Robin.
After spending most of my working life in the NorthEast, I moved to the Raleigh-Durham area in 2013 and found just the right fit at Laser Image!
I am able to use my years as a well-seasoned professional addressing the financial and administrative needs of demanding environments (high-technology, architecture, advertising and graphic industries) to help keep everything nice and tidy.
Some people think accounting is boring. Not so, especially here at Laser Image, where I get to wear many hats and where my knowledge and experience is welcomed and respected. But that’s how they roll down south. A warmer climate indeed.

Hi, I’m Norm Johnson and I’ve been in the printing business since 1983. I’ve worked virtually every area including bindery, prepress, offset press operations, mailing services and customer service. I enjoy solving problems and organizing daily workloads so jobs are completed on time and correctly.
I’m originally from Chicago which is why I moved to North Carolina in the first place! Being a lifelong-diehard Bears fan, I enjoy watching the games from the sunny south. Thank God for NFL Sunday Ticket. I play golf, the guitar and Pinochle. I also like to drink beer and do crossword puzzles at the same time.
