In a previous post on new ideas for getting a prospect’s attention, we noted that an effective campaign has to spark interest right off the bat.
Dimensional pieces are a great way to achieve this.
There’s a whole new world open to you: full-color dimensional pieces of your own design printed with your brand and message. You can even personalize each one with your name, names of your recipients, a coupon serial number, or any other information you like.
And you can do this quickly, in short runs, at affordable prices.
We used the cube box in our recent 12-Touch Campaign. It’s printed on Mohawk die-cut press sheets and personalized with the names of our sales representatives. After printing, we pop the flat box out of its backing and assemble it into a 4″ cube. We fill each box with candy and other treats, distribute them in person to a select list of prospects, and then follow up promptly by phone or email.
Designers love dimensional pieces because they have lots of space to display powerful messages. Katie Beth Groover, a member of the Laser Image Graphic Design team says, “Laser Image offers a lot of services. I wanted to convey that when I designed the cube. Running our top four strengths around the perimeter of the box gives the sense of endless capabilities—they just keep going and going.”
It’s worth using dimensional pieces for mail, too. Research shows that mail received in a box, tube or padded envelope has 20 times the penetrating power of flat direct mail, boosts response rates by as much as 75% and scores 80% or better in generating positive opinions among recipients. (There are also important tips and caveats to using dimensional mail in successful campaigns. We address those here.)
A dimensional piece, whether hand-delivered or mailed, typically gets past the gatekeeper to your recipient’s desk, and stands out from everything else. Its shape cuts through the clutter. It says to your recipient, “To me, you’re worth sending something special.”
